Needing some info before making a RRS purchase?

Hi All,

New to the forum so Hi to all.

I have been a land rover freelander 2 HSE owner in the past and although these are great cars I have always yearned for a RRS, I am still thinking of seeing if I can afford to purchase one and make one work. Obviously im looking at the second hand market not new. I have a couple of questions and would appreciate any help to sway me towards one or at the very least find out if there are too many pitfalls involved now before making any commitment.

Questions are as follows:

RRS 2.7 vs 3.0 which is better and why? My price range is tipping towards the 2.7 but I heard the 2.7 is a bit underpowered?
Fuel consumption to a full tank, (I used to get 560 out of me FL2 Manual 63 Ltrs) if I am correct the RRS has a 84ltre capacity I just want to know what you get out of a RRS brimmed to the full to empty range (Manual box vs auto) not really interested in mpg, think most RRS are auto ?
Revisions is there a good year to look for facelift models ect? if so what are the differences
What are the main things to look out for or to be aware of when searching for a possible purchase
What common or main faults do the RRS have?
How often do you have to have them serviced? are they the same as the landy A&B service or different and whats the normal cost for a big service and the usual oil n filter basic jobby?
Tyres what are you looking at price wise on average for each corner?
Any other costs I need to know about ownershipwise?
Whats the RRS reliability like in general ? Mech & elec
What is the best trim are all RRS HSE's? what do you get goody wise with the HSE?

I know there are a lot of questions above but I figured best thing was to hear the info straight from the horses mouths so to speak, ie you peeps that actually own the cars Wink

Thanks to all who reply in advance.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HST Java Black

Welcome to the forum firstly however I must say there are an awful lot of questions here which most have been covered umpteen times.

Im pretty new to the forum myself and all the things your asking I used the search option and just typed in your keywords for each section like '2.7 fuel consumption'. You find its all covered.

I have 2.7, for. A 3 tonne motor that engines not bad to be honest, quick enough for what I need and it feels quick being as your in a 3 tonne car.

I get about 21-22mpg round town and combined with longer journeys and motorways about 26-28mpg.

Mines autobox - I love it. Wouldn't have a manual for the driving I need.

Facelift interior and shape came in later part of 2009 I think.

Faults are expensive - search forum for 'buying advice'

Tyre price depends on wheel size? Mine are 275 40 20 and pirelli scorpians are about £200 a corner.

If you want quicker answers id recomend searching! I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

In terms of range, I get about 420 miles....at least that's what it says on the computer when I fill it up - I've never actually checked! That's mixed driving
