Last night i left the car in fully raised mode ,today i drove it and the amber suspension light came on with warning NORMAL suspension only turned of and back on, lowered the car to access mode and then back to normal ride hight which only lifted the rear and a dash warning SUSPENSION WILL RISE WHEN SYSTEM COOLED DOWN and no amber warning light just got home and lowered it to access hight

Any ideas please

Now it is just sitting in access mode and won't rise and a red flashing light above the front drivers side front wheel in the 4x4 screen

The flashing light shows either a faulty sensor or that the wheel on its bump stop.

You need to get the fault codes read to see what the issue is. It could be something as simple as a corrupted ride height calibration (cross articulation error) - this can, in extremis, lead to the vehicle sitting on its bump stops. A single faulty ride height sensor shouldn't lead to a loss of the system just to reduced functionality.

I'd go with a new unit. You can repair them but I've no idea how difficult it is or how long it would take. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Just ordered a AMK compressor unit and will replace it on saturday does anyone know if i have to update or reset the ECU once i have fitted it

All fitted and followed the AMK compressor fitment in How to all i need to do now is get the software update
