Do you think we should all sell our V6's now before they become worthless? |

I hadn't realised this was such a widely highlighted issue...Glad I went for the 4.4 petrol though.

Well, someone has to speak up for them - we’ve had three JLR V6 diesels in the last ten years (for a total of 120,000 miles so far) and they’ve all been reliable, smooth and economical (I know I’m tempting fate!).

I doubt they'll mention the crank issue - or if they do they'll use clever words that suggest LR will look after you (when in reality, they won't unless you're the first owner in the first three years). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

They use the discovery v6 at work and regularly get rid at 250k miles. Never known a failed engine.i think everyone who has one comes here for advice!

I have to say I have only had one unreliable Land Rover since 1996 and that was a 2014MY Evoque that was perfect until there was a gearbox software ‘upgrade’ for the 9 speed ZF gearbox.............. got shot of the car after the 10th DPF Senior was replaced in 2 months and back into an RRS. I would still have my 2015.5MY SDv6 HSE D if JLR had been more committed to offering a fix should the crank have snapped, but as I slip down the slope to retirement I decided it was a financial risk I wasn’t prepared to take and as in 3 years ownership the price for a like for like replacement had increased more than £10,000 and the standard equipment list had reduced I decided to take a break from new JLR products after buying 11 of then in 22 years and try something a bit different and a lot less costly. I still have my 100% reliable and 22 year old TDi300 Defender to fly the LR flag on my drive 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I think that there are a lot of V6 diesels running around trouble free, however the issue I had was, that once the car falls below £25k, then it is just too much of a gamble to keep it when the cost of a complete new power unit is not far short of the value of the car.

That's what scrapyards and LR specialists are for. If something were to happen to mine, I'd just get it swapped out with another for a fraction of a new one. |

2nd hand 2.7 engines aren't a fraction of the cost of a new one. |
