Low power mode message on Stereo ?

2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6

Hi

Finished work started the car up, windows down, sunroof open went to turn the cd up and had a message said Low power and volume would not go any louder.

Drop it up the road and it seemed all fine. No other warning lights on Dash.

Does this mean I have a problem with my battery?

I have to take it for a long run tomorrow and it has got me a bit worried.

Any ideas ?

Maybe but probably not.

When the battery is a bit down the car goes into a pretection mode to minimise power use - hence the low power message as the radios power is reduced. The next stage is the radio comes on but there is no volume at all.

Usually just running the car for a while and lifting battery charge is enough to get everything back to normal again. This issue by itself is not cause to think there are issues with the battery.

If the problem continues after a period of charging the battery then maybe.

Yesterday went to start it in the morning and the battery was flat, a day before the parking sensors stopped working.

Just fitted a upgraded battery today, Hope this resolves everything, will check it tomorrow when I take it to work. Thumbs Up

Thought this was just a protection method to stop excessive draining of the battery?

In your case, obviously your battery was knackered, now I might be wrong but I don't think that message is anything to worry about normally. I've always had the same message when using the stereo without the engine running since buying the car nearly 2 years ago and have never had a battery problem.
