Main beam activation

I purchased my RRS a couple of weeks ago never owning a rangerover before
My question is my signal headlight stalk when on low beam is pushed forward
When I activate high beam I have to pull back into centre position but I'm guessing this is incorrect as all other cars I've owned the low/dipped beam is in centre position then pull towards you then release to flash main then push away towards the dash to activate main beam
Pardon the pun bat can anyone shed a light on this problem
Thanks
Cosmo

In simple terms when the indicator stalk is in the middle position this is normally dipped beam and pushing the stalk forward put main beam on but my car is reversed dipped beam is on in the forward position and not central
Is this wrong or right

Sounds like the auto dimming is on. The car will activate the main beam when it doesn't detect any headlights or taillights ahead. To then go manually to low beam your have to move the stalk back (to normal flash position).
Take a look in the handbook under main beam assist.

I had exactly the same thing happen on my 2005 HSE after I got shunted by the car behind. I had the main beam 'on' position reversed but also the main beam couldn't be 'flashed' - seems the innards of the stalk were shot and the spring had gone. Once replaced, it was back to normal operation as you described. I managed to get the newer decal stalks from one of the other forum members here. Ask and you might be lucky too.

Thanks for the info
I have done some checking on the car
Without the lights on if I put stalk in centre the headlights come on with high beam blue light on dash showing
If I have headlights on with stalk in middle position high beam is on but if I turn left indicator on with stalk in middle all works as it should but if I turn right indicated it's reversed again so looks like a new stalk

That's the p/n that I used for my replacement: XPC500100 Thumbs Up

I got mine from Bodsy (forum member) and I know that Peachy (another member) also had one a while back - in fact I did both light and wiper stalks at the same time.
