Changing Front Diff - advice?

Hi guys

I've got my local garage replacing my front diff. (2005 HSE - 165k miles......)

They're not an RR specialist but I've been pleased with work they've done previously so before he starts has anyone done this job and have you got any advice? (E.g. is it easier to take the engine out etc)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions - I'm just trying to make his life easier.

Cheers

Had my front diff changed by a local specialist and no problems since. It isn't necessary to take the engine out. Just pull the front driveshafts and then everything just unbolts I think. I asked them to clean out the tube (not the correct term but it'll do!) That the driveshafts run in to get rid of any metal particles that might have come out of the diff where it had worn. You don't want any bits of old diff damaging anything. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Not sure which part of the midlands you are in but if you wanted to speak to a specialist and get a quote from them I've used http://www.armsonae.co.uk/ and I will be using him for all other stuff I need.

Thanks both for your posts.

Paddi - good to see your tecnical knowledge is on par with mine!

Bungleaio - again thanks (good garages are hard to find) however I've been really pleased with the work done by the guys who'll be doing the work and they've sorted a number of problems I've had so I thought I'd tap into the knowledge here to see if there were any tips / tricks to pass on.

Cheers
