Time for a change?????

I've had my head turned by the Mercedes CLA with the AMG kit, and as hard as I try & resist I just cant help it Rolling with laughter

TBH I would love a new full fat but out of my price range atm so I'm thinking 2-3 years in the merc and then back to a new shape full fat.

Not made any final decisions yet, but was wondering what peoples past experiences are with Mercedes? Especially new ones, Any problems? Prone to faults etc? Good customer service?

I've never owned one before so any advice welcome.

I'm going through the same thought process having sold my 911 a couple of months ago. My RRS is coming up for 7 years old so it's time to get rid of that too.

For me I'm hooked on the RS4 having test driven one at the weekend. Unbelievable performance and handling. As its an estate my thinking is it'll replace the RRS nicely.

So my two-penneth is if it scratches the itch do it ! FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
Ex 2006 RRS SC - garbage
Ex 2016 135i M Sport - dream car
Ex 2003 RS6 Avant - piece of cr*p
Ex 2014 320d X Drive, M Sport Touring - ok I guess
Ex 2007 RRS TDV8 - bloody loved it
EX 2007 FL2 XS - not so bad

A neighbour had a C class estate spent more time in dealer workshop than on road - he traded it in the end because MB kept fobbing him off Sad

He couldn't get out of his drive if it snowed or froze either Rolling Eyes

My Cousin had a very nice AMG SL but it cost £1000's every time it needed a service because of a defect they couldn't permanently fix or admit so she got rid too Shocked

Based on these 2 vehicles I have witnessed I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole but sure many happy owners out there Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Sold my C Class 220 CDi recently - absolutely no problems at all in 60,000 miles. Only put tyres on which were pretty cheap and servicing from main dealer was quite a reasonable price.
Just bought CLA 220 CDI - hoping FWD is better than the C Class in the Winter!
Otherwise SWMBO lets me use the RRS!

Yeah get a rs4 or even the new shape supercharged s4?

But you could get the c63 amg and for the very short period time we actually have snow maybe have a banger to drive or find other transport. We haven't had any snow since I've had this sport!!

C63 out of my price range, I'm looking at the CLA 220 with AMG kit and a few other extras at around £35k

And yes I feel your pain, in 2 years of having the RRS not once have I ever needed to put it in snow mode Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Rolling with laughter

After sliding around in my first sport on summer tyres and a few bad winters I forked out for winter tyres last year ready for the predicted arctic blast that was to last 3 months - what a waste of £1k Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Don't know what your situation is but CLA is very small, it's really a 2+2. Boot is small. I test drove a CLA45 AMG for Mrs BKHK, cracking little rocket but silly $. She was comparing the size to her Mini, that's how she viewed it, it's an A Class. I think you will do a lot of $ in 3 years. I would spend the 35k on a newer RRS'and enjoy it. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

The thing that puts me off the A and new C class is the sat nav/ice screen. It looks like they've forgotten to put a screen in so they just stuck an ipad on a dash mount.

It wasn't' a waste at all, the tyres you bought were that good they kept the temps up and snow away!

B7 or B8 RS4 ? Great cars absolutely loved mine but unfortunately my wife was finding it difficult getting in and out with the bucket seats.

Bradders.

If you really like the RS4 Avant never get in the RS6... Laughing

I drove both back to back and as good as the RS4 was, the RS6 eclipsed it totally... Bow down RRS gone

RS6 is an autobahn cruiser and will leave the 4 for dust but the tables are reversed on the twisty bits. The B7 is probably the best handling Audi ever.
