How on earth do you get the plastics to stay black!

My trim always needs back to black on it, Its really faded around the front. I hate to see it not black, but spending every few days touching it up. Makes we wonder about getting it sprayed grey to match the rest of the car now.

Boiled Linseed Oil is very good Thumbs Up ... Peanut butter also gets many good comments around here..

If you use the search facility for "linseed" and "peanut" you will find several posts Carl

Those are the two I keep reading about most and may one day use...good for getting wax stains off

The product I have used and is excellent and has real longevity is Gtecniq C4 Pemanant trim restorer...

Small bottle...goes a long way ... not cheap.. lasts a long time ...but black trim looks like the day it came out the factory.

I second Andman - C4 from GTechniq is great stuff! Pricey, but I would rather pay for something that lasts! Smile

why not just spray paint it once and forget about it!

the peanut butter and plastic restorer is nice when you want to sell the car but I am fed up with reaplying this stuff every 2 or 3 weeks so thingking about painting it.
especially the part below the windshield

I tried everything, in the end gave up and bought a new lower scuttle and boot button Rolling with laughter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

How easy was it to replace the boot button?

Simples. Remove boot panel and sub speaker, one screw and a plug, done. Took about 15 mins. Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

usually a heat gun does the trick
keep it on until the plastic changes colour back to as new then move it around until all is done
be careful near screen though
this is a permanent fix

mine is fully colour coded to avoid this but my scuttle under windscreen was so grey i was thinking of getting a new one,, i had tried many lotions and potions then someone gave me the autoglym bumper gel (green label) put one coat on came quiet well, next day put another on and its great proper black again!

Gtech c4 seems the best route, then heat gun the second, then some of the detailing auto products. I'd go the c4 first now I've seen what it can do, but thanks all for that! Thumbs Up
