England 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Model differences.

Getting my 09 RRS next saturday, and I am in need of a towbar and electrics.

Been nosing around here, but can't find the info I need.......

So................ Was there a model update/facelift in 2009 ?

Been looking on e-bay at detachable kits, and there are a few different ones out there.

Anyone fitted the Thule one with a 13pin socket ?...... Do I need to go to the dealers to get the electrics updated to get it all to work properly, or is there a kit I can buy that's plug and play.

Sorry for all the questions, but being a newbie, I seem to be making more questions every time I try to solve a issue.

Cheers.

In 2009 the MY10 was introduced with 3.0 tdv6 to replace 2.7 and exterior tweaks and interior refinements Bow down

Tow bars are interchangeable on all D3/4 and rrsport up to MY13 Thumbs Up

Electrics are more complicated so hopefully a more knowledgeable member will pick up this specialist subject Confused

Hope this helps and welcome Cool Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

For those of us who aspire to later models, is there a topic for us that outlines the differences that happened between 2009/2010? (I didn't find one when I once looked)

The price difference is significant, and a topic with a few photos and a basic explanation, especially for those contemplating RRS ownership for the first time, might be very useful and will also bring long tail searches into the forum.

Anyone who has knowledge of both variants and some photos could make a very useful sticky topic for the site (unless its here already and I missed it).

Show my ignorance now but I've never seen a Sport fitted with 13 pin electrics, and that included 13 plate loan car. Usually kits come with two plug system and adaptors are easy to come by. Electric kits are plug and play but do require a dealer/grown up system configuration to tell control unit to change various things such as rear fog light delete and parking sensors, and also gearbox changes map to select different gear uses. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Both mine had 13 pin Thumbs Up

Try reading this concerning MY10 Bow down

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic33226....erence+3+0

Just to add my personal experience - I looked at a 2.7 when I had a FL2 and thought double the money for what looked and felt like a bigger Freelander so walked away. Few years later I looked at 3.0 MY10 and thought hell yeah. Last year I looked @ MY13 and did the same again - SWMBO has now banned me from looking at MY14 Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Mine is a 13 pin.
Have a look at parkers for MY tweaks and mods/updates.

As I said, " going to show my ignorance" Rolling with laughter
When I fitted tow bar to barge, I had the choice so went for 13 pin as my tintent has one and then bought a 7 pin converter for car trailer. It certainly beats the need for twin plug converter hanging round tow ball Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
