Hi, my Goodyear 275/40/20s on my RRS 2010 are up for replacement. I have found the ride quality to be disappointing since buying the car 6 months ago. It seems listless at motorway speeds, requiring constant adjustment to keep straight. I read on here that the Hankooks are a good option and that going to 275/45/20 from 275/40/20 can make a big improvement to the ride quality. That post was a couple of years ago. Is the consensus still the same in terms of brand and tyre choice? Does increasing the tyre height from 40 to 45 affect the speedo reading?

I recently put 4 x 275/40/20 Hankooks on my RRS 2006, mine stays pretty straight on motorway, I also had the tracking done same time as the wheels. The ride comfort is ok and the road noise is less than more expensive brands. I think I will stick with these. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

Thanks. Did you stick with the 275/40 or try the 275/45 and if so, did it affect your speedometer? Which Pirellis do you recommend?

It will change the speedo reading because the /45 is nearly 4% larger diameter than the /40. Probably not enough to worry about but you need to remember that your speedo is under-reading slightly so you're going faster than you think. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Worth noting that....

Non standard Tyre sizes are a modification as far as your insurer is concerned!

It may affect any warranty you may have if you want to claim for a suspension / drive line issue

In a serious accident a over zealous cop might also point out the Tyre size is not one LR recommend for your car.

Thanks for all your helpful replies. So it seems that 45 isn't the way to go after all and Hankooks get mixed reviews. From what I have read, Pirellis seem to wear out faster than most.
