2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey
2013 SDV6 Oil Overfill message

Hi,

The car had it's first service last week and today I checked the oil level on the dash and a message appeared saying the oil was overfilled.

I guess they put in too much, but looking in the manual there are dire warnings about not driving the vehicle, etc.

I have done probably 50 miles since the service and not noticed a problem and will call the dealer on Monday.

Can anyone explain what the problems may be and as it it is 30 miles to the dealer, can I drive there?

Cheers

I would check it again, if you still get the same warning, call L/R assist and go from there, i wouldn't drive it otherwise you may be responsible for any damaged caused, or they will try and blame you for their incompetence. Whistle If you need to use a motor between now and monday, get L/R assist to provide you with one. Thumbs Up

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Update

Checked the oil level again this morning and the same message.

Why could Land Rover not put a dipstick in the tube? It would be so easy then to see if there was a real overfill problem and by how much.

Anyway looking at the manual page

It says check with the engine oil hot, the car had been standing for 5 days so all the oil must have really drained down.

After running the engine I then checked again, it took best part of 30 minutes not 10 for a reading to be available.
It said the level was OK and displayed half full.

After an hour I checked again and now it reads full and OK.
Again after 3 hours still reading full and OK.

I guess it was filled to just slightly over the correct amount and probably not worth worrying about? 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
