Daytime running lights

I read on the owners manual that it's possible to configure daytime running light at any LR Dealership. Is it via ECU (SDD) configuration? Do they need any harwere? I try at my local LR dealer, Shocked was the face of receptionist.
At the day after, they given me a lot of incurrent explanations, and I think they don't have any idea..... so they can't !!

They say that it's not easy and need hardware..... Question

I know if I configure that option it will turned on the rear light also Confused , bought the question is they need hardware or is just a software configuration Question Idea Yuri

Hi they should be able to configure DRLs with diagnostics
In SDD "the dealer diagnostic system" it is in the service functions tab there should be the option to configure DRLs
It should just be a case of them recoding the body control module to enable DRLs
Hope that helps
Matt

I asked the dealer to acctivate mine when it went to have it's number plate fittted because I had read the same thing in the manual.

I was told it couldn't be done as it was an option that wasn't fitted to my car. ---------------------------

I tried to enable on someones (why you would want it is beyond me) but basically you couldn't.

The fairy lights remember aren't DRLs

On a positive, my new disco has DRLs and ive found you can turn them off from the drivers seat - no special tools...guess what im planning to do. Mike

I saw a new Disco with the DRLs on today, they are very bright, i can't understand why they make a law for all new vehicles to have them fitted when the manufactures provide a switch to turn them off Confused

It can be done I have done a few but you only get the headlamps to work, if you want drl's like the new ones you need to get them fitted, a few members on here have had them done...

Flack Thumbs Up

True, I naturally thought he meant the fairy lights. The headlight on is easy through the ccf.

Yes the new disco ones are bright...but the ability to turn the stupid thing off is inspired, I can think of a few times you might need them totally off. Mike

On the subject of fairy lights on the RRS, is it possible to get brighter bulbs for these as they arn't much use otherwise? Anybody have any ideas what size bulb is required?
