Service Reset

lo all,

My car is in for a service on Saturday with an independent specialist. The only problem is he wont have the correct diagnostic tool to reset the service light on the dash.

Does anyone on here have the correct equipment to reset it? or any other ideas how I can get it reset once he was completed the service.

Thanks

James

You can reset them without any equipment!!! 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

The thought I had was "how can they check and clear faults if they can't even reset the service indicator?" 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Have to confess, the thought I had was not much of a specialist if they don't have basic service and diagnostics. Whistle 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Would be more worried about this though. Even an entry level Snap-On computer can clear service lights...

Mmm. I tried doing an 05 disco and ended up doing it with Verus but my 07 could be done with dash button. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

lo all,

I am not able to reset the service indicator via the dash on a 55 plate.

Also my specialist has the diagnostics tools for my car, but he said the service indicator light has to be reset via the dealer.

Does anyone have anything to reset the light with to save me having to go to the dealer to get it reset?

Thanks

If he has the diagnostic tools for your car there should be no reason to travel to a dealer...even the most basic tool does it. Mike

Any local car garage that uses snap on can do it. Sonus or Verus does reset it as does autodata. Bit far from me to offer my help Whistle 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

I'm in Leicester during the week if you wanted it done and/or some software updates.

Mikey, are you saying if when I do the MY08 updates for clock on the dash, that the service reset will then work for these guys? Bodsys Brake Bible

Ian, only tried it on one car, but yes, it worked with the 08MY IPC software Thumbs Up

Though that car also had various other upgrades, so whether it was the IPC alone, or a combination, I am not sure

Tried it yesterday on another car I had done, and wouldn't work. Must depend on which other software has been upgraded
