Rear pads to be replaced

Just a quick question, when I replace my rear pads (tdv8) will the pistons just push back into the caliper or do they work like a thread type piston and a special tool required?

LR wanted over £280 to replace these, I nearly fell over when they said that Shocked

Cheers paddi Thumbs Up

@ bodsy I looked at the bible, but being a bit of a tard newb, wasn't sure if RRS used the same as the disco's. Embarassed

Changed a few pads in my wee life time (on numerous cars) and you often find there always some subtitle little difference between models . Going to have to order me a set and have a bash at these next weekend.

Ta mucho

Spain

Simple, just push them back, however I would open the bleed nipple first, that way you dump the dirty used fluid, you don't push it back towards the master cylinder Thumbs Up In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Well managed to change the rear pads today and no problems apart from a warning light now on dash saying check pads. I have replaced the sensor and not sure if this has connected properly. I found that the sensor on the actual pads not to be a nice snug fit.

The sensor seems to be quite lose to touch but I'm sure it's pressed home properly. Does the sensor have to be firm to the touch ( with no wobble) or could the pins on the connector be the problem, or is there something else silly I'm missing. I have also tried leaving key in position 2 (no engine running) for approx 45s , to see if this helped with a reset, but alas no joy Sad

I think you need to check the warning light sensors and possibly fit new. They should be a positive fit by the way, but old ones get brittle and really need replacemnt everyt time with the pads. The sensor wire conections above the chassis in each wheel arch can be a bit fiddly to do.

btw, on my car, there was a spare jackplug hanging in the breeze up there (not sure what it is for) and working blind, I tried to connect to the wrong one. Might be worth having another look.

Adam..

It's the unused loom connector for the TPMS - which you don't have. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Hey thanks Paddi.

That is good to know.

Cheers, Adam..

TPMS will be mandatory on new cars soon. Talk about a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Why not just check your tyre pressures regularly?

I managed to damage the brake wear sensor when I changed the rear pads, so just stripped the two wires back & tied them together.

No more brake pad warning light Surprised
