Right, it's almost one year since I got my Supercharged and it's still damned lovely to drive of course. I want to try and work out how much it's worth on the open market.

I have tried using Parkers but as I am too mean to pay for their mileage adjusted figures can anyone else help?

I want to know how much I'd get for a private sale and a PX. The car as you might expect is in mint condition (especially now that it has a brand new set of alloy wheels on it from Landrover!)

So, it's a Sep 2005 55 plate, 17,500 miles, supercharged (not 1st Edition)

Interestingly, when I looked at Autotrader online, there were very few SC's for sale at all, which could be construed either way I guess.

I know I will have taken a decent hit on the list price but it's financial planning time of year and I need to take a stock check of things.

But the online autotrader valuation thing puts it as this:

Think its a little lower then expected really.
RRUK if you're thinking of selling, i can give you the number for the guys that bought mine. TDV8 taking your fancy? or something a little different.. or is this just finance checking time as you said..

Vauxhall figures must be rubbish... 12k difference across the scale?

Looking at 25% depreciation after year 1 in the best case scenario... eek!

Did think they were a bit spread out.

Looking at autotrader SC versions around 55 plate, are between £46 - 48k average, and going up... I reckon if you were to trade in and got a good deal on the purchase vehicle, and they gave you some more allowance, a pex price between £43-45k would be achievable, well thats what you would want anyway.

On average i have been told and have seen, brand new cars loose £8k average in their first year, im talking generic bmw 520's, e classes etc, so for something of this price, loosing around £10-12k in a year, thats not too bad going, considering the target market who could afford to run one, is quite small especially on the used market.

Generally speaking, losing around 30% in the first year is to be expected.

Am looking at all sorts of options: I get this each year where I see if I can put money back in the piggy bank instead of Mr Brown's wallet.

Might sell and get 2nd hand FFRR TD6 or BMW X5 3.d Sport Auto. Not sure. Decided to can the TDV8 idea for now.

Thinking it might be better to get out now rather than in another year's time when it could have close to 45K on the clock...  L319 D4 HSE

Stick with the RRs RRUK you know it make sense. You will probably take a bigger hit on the FFRR - old model and all that. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

aah, but I was thinking, if I sold the RRS now and bought something for ten grand or so less than I got for it, that's ten grand straight in the bank off the mortgage. In another years time, I may not have the luxury of choice on that one..do you see? L319 D4 HSE

the difference between what I'd get for mine and a second hand TDV6 is pretty small, and perhaps not worth it.

TDV8 too much money new, Audi Q7 could be bought new for cash, FFRR doesn't handle as well. I have heard that the X5 drives on road very well, I'd sure give it a tough time off road. Anyway, I've organised a test drive for next week so I can finally see what I think to one. L319 D4 HSE

Get a post facelifted X5 for high 20's mate with all the toys, decent car, pulls well, good handling etc, and won't fall too far when the new one starts rolling out. it does feel a bit dated inside though, however you will have got used to the plastic heaven in the RRS, so its actually a bit better then the RRS.

I had that clients X5 for a month or so didn't i after the disposal of my RRS, and that handled so much better then the RRS, and was better built, however it didn't seem to have as much character and i would prefer an RRS over one anyday, but for the reasons that you're saying, it does sound a wise move, and your not likely to loose a hell of a lot on an X5, i got a 2002 X5 3.0d Sport residual value after 4 years to £12k, and that will be 8 years old then!

Kam, when did the facelift come out and what are the differences to look for to make sure I get one (If it ever got to that stage) L319 D4 HSE
