Faclifted X5.. Was i think around 53/04 plate onwards. Basically they changed the interior slightly, (new style steering wheel biggest give away) also front lights changed over to the clear indicators and slightly wide eyed lights (with the angel eye rings for the sidelights - which do look cool to be fair)..change to the grill, also some differences to the alloys, they are much better on the newer X5's. Some engine changes as well, 4.6 is changed to 4.8is, 3.0d engine had some changes, mainly to turbo charger and i think it got a few more ponies, 4.4i stayed the same with just a few revisions, but obviously we're talking about 3.0d sport here right? They also changed the colour pallets somewhat. Older X5 Newer X5 |

Kam, I went on to that X5 link and asked their advice, the consensus of opinion seems to say that I should buy a used facelift 4.4 sport as I wil get one for high 20's and it will do 21mpg instea dof the 17mpg I get now.

Funnily enough, this model is the one i know least about, it is definitely the most depreciating model of the bunch. The 4.8 and 4.6is engines are the SC of the X5 stable, and hold their values well, as they were so bloody expensive to begin with so there aren't a hell of a lot of them about.
