Am I mad???

Well this is my first post and like to say hi to all..

At present I have Nissan 370z limited edition 17k on the clock. I have always been drawn to the looks of a RRS, and I have been tempted by a 07 TDV8 with 77k on it with full service.

I have been reading this forum for a little while now and I think I'm kinda scaring myself into not changing my motor.
After reading all the reports of common problems with the RRS (or is it just a unlucky few?) do you think I would be mad to get rid of the zed?

Cheers

Steve

2013 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 Baltic Blue

Welcome!!

I did a similar thing, I switched from a BMW Z4 35is to my RRS Black Edition. I have to be honest, I expected to miss the Z, however, not a day really goes past when I do! Even the sunny days when I would enjoy blasting around the country lanes with the roof down listening to the glorious 3 litre twin supercharged engine! (OK maybe I do miss that sound a bit Whistle )

I am sure there will be many more people along shortly to advise on the 07 TDV8 and any potential problems. But for every car with problems, I am sure there are many many happy owners. But buy as new as you can and a few small niggles is just part of the character of owning an RRS! Now

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm going to have a look and test tomorrow....who knows could be driving home in a RRS tomorrow Very Happy

Tbh the zed lacks a lot of the v6 tune, sounds very flat , I'm not worried about running costs as the mpg is pretty much like for like.

I switched from an XKR and I'm very happy with my decision. You can fit a big Christmas tree in the back, drive in mud, and stuff, no sweat. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Go for it all cars have issues and this forum is where you come to ask how to fix them...

Don't let it put you off, the v8 sounds sweet too...

If I was in the UK, I might be interested in your Zed as a weekend toy. Mind you, it might be a bit mid life crisis for me! I drove one for a week or two in the USA and I thought it was a fun little thing with a manual shift.

Totally different character cars, the RRS and the Zed, so don't jump too quickly without thinking about what you want from a car. Best thing to do is to keep the Zed for the Mrs and have the RRS for you. That way, if you don't like it, she might just need a bigger car for shopping.... United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

we always remember the bad points and never the good points... and all the bad points come together in forums like this !

Ive had my fair share of cars over the years and basically they all go wrong one way or the other! Any modern car has far more to go wrong...

if you don't want to live in the world of the MG Midget owners club then stick around and take your chances as you may do in the Nissan forums ? Why?.. Because i can....
RRS 2006 S/C Rimini Red Weekend toy
Subaru impreza 1998 2.0 340hp still here
Smart car 0.7 61 hp Carbon offset
Sierra cosworth 2.0 350 hp GONE
Various RS escorts, Vauxhall sri's Volvo T5's, BMW 3 series, fiestas (?) fiat's....

Well I only gone and done it Very Happy , picked the beast up earlier, and must say I'm well impressed how nice it drives for a big lump. Only issue I have is as soon as I got it from the trader and got to the petrol station I couldn't open the bloody fuel flap Embarassed

Rang the guy who sold it to me and he came straight out to try to solve the problem. Seems like there is a little plastic piece that is attached to the flap and this has now snapped off after he gave it a tad to much force trying to open it Evil or Very Mad now need to get that sorted.

Another question, there are monitors in the rear head rests, and I have notice they have a constant stand by light on them. Do these always stay like this or can these be powered down to an off position.

Cheers

Im not sure if mine are factory fitted, but they are off all the time but with a small red led standby by button lit. Maybe a bit of black tape is the answer Very Happy
