Bad week

After finding my RRS with a broken door mirror I thought it couldn't get worse.

But it did...some Censored Censored decided to key my RRS. Mad

Any suggestions on what's the best way of tackling this Question

If you can feel it with your fingernail it's too deep and needs respray

If it's very light within the top clearcoat you might be able to get a machine polish and restore

Either way set of jealous Censored

Don't make an issue of it with neighbours etc.....You could get someone keying it again (or worse) just to stir Censored . You really need to catch them in the act...and when/if you do.....Don't miss them, make them not want to do it again. I have had a few of my previously owned cars key'd....and I mean key'd with a vengence. I feel your pain.

Thanks npinks - doesn't feel to deep...it goes across the rear door and over to the front passengers side. I will see if i can polish it out

mad-dafty - thankfully it was not my neighbors - they are too nice to do that...this happened at work. I have to normally park down the road from my office and happened there. i would love to catch the Censored

Sorry to hear youve had a Censored week - firstly I have used a smart repair guy in the past - spent all day on a bumper - car covered by a tent - awesome job - he ended up working on 4 cars in the grove over the next few months Wink Invest in a Blackvue - it may not stop the bastards - but it will give you great pleasure knowing who they are Very Happy

That's just awful. Sorry to hear your further woes

If the damage was done while the car was at your home then fit CCTV so you can record the scrotes doing it. Otherwise I guess you just have to scrupulously avoid leaving it anywhere dodgy.

As has been said, if it's deep scratches below the clear coat then a smart repair isn't possible and full panel respray is the only option sadly.

Envy is just being too lazy to work hard and reap the rewards in my view.

Its a pity the law are just totally uninterested in catching the scum responsible. I realised that when my car was stolen and the police found it parked up in the local scum estate with the doors open and the steering lock smashed. Instead of looking after it they just rang me to tell me where it was. "Oh and you'd best do it quickly sir before someone else steals it again" WTF?
Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant ...but I feel better now! 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Censored

Makes your blood boil Evil or Very Mad

Definitely get a camera and always reverse park so camera covers the Censored approach Sad

My brother had problems with kids where he lived and police said no evidence no action - he had spoken to the culprits and considered taking pics but was warned they were minors so he could be charged, etc Rolling Eyes

In the end he got security camera and it recorded them in action and even trying to smash the camera but once he handed tape to police they had to take action and he never had a problem again Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

That sucks.

If you cannot get it waxed/polished in the time try this.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004RAX...&psc=1

I have used the product and as long as you cannot feel the scratch with your fingernail, like magic this paste takes it right off.

definitely thinking of getting the blackvue - but will have to wait until next year.

MW - not a problem at home as the area is pretty good and I have CCTV. the problem is the car is normally parked on street at work - I could get secured parking but at a cost approx £120pm. Never had a problem before with my Merc CLK or BMW 3 series convertible. But looks like i'll have to go down the secure parking route. Sad

Karan - ill try that can pick up from my local halford tmr. Thumbs Up

Dhups,
Sorry to hear such a crappy week, on the plus side though, holiday soon.

If it's superficial damage, just top coat, and paint, no visible metal or primer, invest in some meguiars ultimate compound, poorboys Black hole, meguiars liquid polish, then a really decent carnuba wax.
Probably cost you @ £75, with some pads and sponges.
With a little effort, it'll go away, it won't be gone for good, but, wash it, clay it down, then chuck those products on, which you can use all over your car, it I'll be unnoticeable.
Got my car trashed by some jealous Censored (sorry mods) spent a while but got 100% scratch free. Didn't take long, any questions or advice please ask, only to happy to help.
Mike
Thumbs Up
