Got decat pipe off ebay £95 fitted it today... on a 2005 rrs hse 2.7

Feels alot more powerful and better pick up and go etc... they say adds about 2bhp etc free flowing etc defo feels more than that though probably isnt... all in all very happy with mod and for the price!
Fitting... a semi ball ache couple very very dry bolts etc took hour and 30mins start to finish straight swap fit
started it up.... loadsssss soot came out... poor car getting clogged up by the cat! cleared up after a little run crazy to think all that was in there!

Next mod my mate doing me exhaust from the box where pipe goes into 2 pipes to the tail pipes straight through pipe with nice tips.. which ill be taking pics of and posting on here and he can make and sell them for about £250 inc postage so to see what the interest is!
So all that pipe work plus tips of your choice! c ebb

Be careful decatting - could result in an MOT fail these days. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Once heard 4.2 SC with a non standard exhaust and what an awesome sound that made. Couldn't belive it when I saw it was RR Sport. Apparently the guy just had the internals removed from the existing mufflers.

Think I'm going to fit one, is there any engine lights on the dash that come on, take it car doesn't need mapped once fitted? Is there big difference in noise?

so what exactly did you have to remove to fit the new pipe ? and any warning lights on dash since ?

hi no warning lights etc... you can hear it abit more in cab slight wine as 1st off when radio off!
Doesnt sound that much more of anything to be honest.. tad more v6 noise as such. I still have standard tail pipes on etc at the moment!

All that needed to be removed is the underneath cover... the gear strut that goes across the underneath (these bolts were very dry) This has to be removed to allow pipe to be removed then a speical jack to hold up gear box as such while you just get decat pipe in place doesnt have to be tighted etc just in place then strut back on
Didnt have to take rear of exhaust of.. bit of leverage and wobbling around decat pipe slided in
the 3 nuts that go on the turbo 1 easy to get at.. 1 you need a long flexi socket 1 is abit of a pain
you can get to some from under the arch left hand wheel, or take wheel off aswell bit more room

Gotta be worth it as all the crap that came out couldnt of been that good for it clogging up things and now i dont think it makes as much smoke when you give it some beans harldy any c ebb

there is no wires or sensors etc attached to cat pipe... so you wouldnt get any warning lights anyway

But goes sooooooo much better! can now get up a hill with some speed c ebb

We have been through this more times than I care to remember. A decat on a Diesel WILL NOT be a cause for an MOT fail. If it does fail, kindly refer him to his MOT tester's manual, or find another MOT station

Thanks for getting back to me and now I will have fun fitting mine on Tuesday lol and I also went for the uprated silicon pipe that goes from turbo to inter cooler as they recommend swapping then as they are prone to wear and also sucking in under high boost from remap

Never heard that before on a D3. The intake pipe is a rigid plastic pipe, attached to a steel pipe, with only a 3 inch long rubber pipe, that I have never seen split before...

I would more likely have replaced the long one from the intercooler to the air intake on the engine, as they tend to split, even on standard cars

yes disco mike the pipe I have brought is long so that must be the one like you say from intercooler to intake and the tuning shop said that they tend to suck in under load.

forgot to ask what the procedure is when jacking the vehicle up as unfortunately ive got to do it on my back and not on ramps

It sounds almost the same as standard. A little bit throatier, a bit more turbo whistle, but makes little to no real difference to the noise
