For completeness, I'd just mention that the work, carried out by a LR dealer, cost c.£1400 of which labour was about £300.

You mentioned the fitting of winter tyres - they are usually noisier, often causing a hum or rumble ?

I've got a feeling it might be to do with the tyres as it seems a bit less of a hum in the wet. The rear is definitely quieter with the new rear diff so I guess it really was on its way out. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
