AFS Control Module location

Could anyone tell me exactly where I can find this? My understanding is that it is towards the bottom of the drivers side A Pillar. I have removed this (from the inside) but can't see it. I wonder if I need to access it from under the wheel arch?

Changes with L or R hand drive. On R/H drive vehicles it is on the passenger's side? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks Paddi. I did wonder if that was the case but couldn't see anything there.

This is a shot from behind the passenger side footwell. Really difficult to move these connectors, but I cannot see where the AFS Control Module is. Also have taken a good look at the drivers side footwell. Just checking to see if anyone can tell if I'm missing something obvious?

PS photo is posting upside down!

Looks as if it is behind the passenger dash end fascia panel: See the description of removal in my gallery:

Paddi - thanks for your further help.

Your PDF gave me the confidence to press on knowing that the AFS ECU must be there somewhere!

What a Censored getting the CJB out was. Having managed to get it out, I thought I would never be able to get it back in and connected and then when I did I had no power to my electric windows, door mirrors or key fob locking Big Cry

So I had to do it all again - thankfully a lot quicker the second time. I don't think one of the rear connectors had been plugged back in correctly Whistle

As a quick summary for anyone else who needs to do it:-

To remove the CJB:-
- remove kick panel and trim panel under glovebox (if you're able to remove the lower glove box - I wasn't - I think that would be a big help)
- unplug 3x connectors on front face of CJB - with finger and thumb press in retaining clips and then lift 'handle' which disengages plug
- unplug green connector at bottom of CJB
- there are 2x 10mm bolts at bottom of CJB (either side of green connector) which when removed allows for the CJB to be pulled towards you and manipulated downwards
- reach in behind CJB and there are two connectors* plugged in to the back of the CJB which are really awkward to get back in - there is a retaining clip which needs to be pushed forward to release the connector.
- once these are removed you should be able to manipulate the CJB out
- apply ointment and bandages to knuckles, fingers, elbows, etc. which will have been cut and grazed along the way Thumbs Up

Once the CJB was removed, I could see the AFS ECU. Even so it looked very difficult to get to and I ended up bending the retaining bracket to get it out.

I now need to find a replacement AFS ECU!

I note that the AFS ECU for Jaguar is identical in shape, has a similar part number and is about 10x cheaper i.e. £30 so I'm thinking about taking a punt on one of those - I used to have a Jaguar XKR but I don't recall the lights initialising in the same way that the RRS does, so maybe won't work?

Rob,
Glad you managed it eventually - sounds a ghastly job Bow down

The instructions for glovebox removal would have been helpful but I can't find them! Perhaps someone else can help?

Hope you manage to find a working unit to get your lights working properly (assume that is the problem you are trying to fix). 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
