TDV6 POOR MPG!! HELP!!

Hi guys, ive recently purchased an 2006 Range Sport TDV6. Ive noticed that the computer reading shows that i'm currently getting 20.5mpg!!!! I've tried my best to drive economically as i can and have only ever managed to get it up to 20.9mpg. Surely this isnt normal for a TDV6???? Any suggestions as to what could be wrong, if anything at all?

I was getting only a little better on my 2005. Do the obvious things - check your tyre pressure, don't carry too much in the boot etc etc. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

My fuel consumption went up when an EGR valve was sticking partly open...maybe worth getting a dealer to check the car over?

My 56 plate 2.7 V6 averaged 27 mpg over my 3 years of ownership, mixed driving, not a great deal of motorways, driving styles are different but it might be worth further investigation. MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc

@HST Singh

Is it your first Range Rover Sport?
I think you will get better MPG by driving your car often. Wink
First I also had a bad MPG and now I use 9 liter / 100km.

I have a 2005 TDV6 and I have noticed that I don't get brilliant fuel consumption figures. Around town it is 20ish and on motorways it is 28ish. I always drive economically and am sure the car is in fine order, just had 60000 mile service from Guy Salmon Wakefield. I dont really expect much more to be honest ?

We do mainly town driving and according to trip comp ave between 20 - 23 mpg.

We do have the air con on most of the year and allegedly that adds around 5 - 10% to your fuel consumption. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

no offence but this thread has cheered me up a bit.

When I recently bought a 07 TDV8, I asked the dealer how realistic the stated 25mpg was and he told me very realistic, his actual words were "if you really put your boot down all the time then it will only drop to low 20's and motorways you'll pish 30 mpg" .... the truth is around town if I'm extremely conservative I'll get 20-21 and on motorway with the cruise set at around 85 I get circa 23-24. If I "boot it" I'm lucky to get 18mpg ... I've now got sick of looking at the computer so have turned it off my dashboard and just enjoy the drive, believe it or not I reckon I've added a couple of MPG just by not trying to drive the thing like a Vicar.

Ehm dont think you were driving quite like a vicar Smile

On my TDV6 2.7 If I set ctruise to 75 on the motorway I would get about 32mpg if I set 85mph the consumption dropped to about 26. All down to driving style. MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,

Jeez! I get between 23 and 25 mpg pulling a tonne and a half of twin axle caravan behind me! That's sitting 65ish cos its just on 1900 revs for the turbo on hills! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.
