2014.5 model changes announced

No sooner the RRS is launched that LR sends a curve ball. Nothing dramatic though. In control connected app and improvement to parking assistant. However the later might also mean better resolution cameras, one might always hope.
Available early 14 along with SDV8.
Got a late Oct prod date, keen to get the new car but the above might also mean some early kinks sorted if willing to wait for Mar delivery...

In all honesty, I think it's Censored poor to be announcing 'improvements' to a car that has barely hit the streets.

I appreciate there will always be evolution in design and spec, but Censored me, the the ink has hardly dried (or in some cases not even been written out) and there is a already a better version in the pipeline........not a good way to cement their brand/customer relationship IMHO Neutral ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

They haven't seemed too worried about that for a while, sadly... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Bali Blue

Wonder how much more for the SDV8 compared to the SDV6 and is it worth any more not by the performance figures

SDV8 0-60 IN 6.9 SECONDS TOP SPEED 140 MPH

SDV6 0-60 IN 6.8 SECONDS TOP SPEED 138 MPH

Unless im looking at figures wrong cant see the point in paying extra for the SDV8 saying that im not an expert and im sure there are members who have a better understanding about both engines than me Thumbs Up 2016 bmw x5 40d m-sport space grey

In the FFRR the only reason for the SDV8 is that you can spec the locking rear diff - it's not available on the V6 strangely.

In the RRS, the SDV8 would seem to be a bit pointless because the SDV6 is a decent engine already. The extra torque might be useful in some cases but the SDV6 has plenty of that anyway. In the old 2.7 TDV6 days, the TDV8 made sense. Now it doesn't seem to. Except for the noise I guess. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Agree the V8 doesn't seem to make much sense in terms of perf difference, unlike the TDV6/SDV8 in the FFRR. Also a couple of tax bands higher.
Have asked dealer for the price list from next week if available.
In any case, poor form as the car has barely been launched. Appreciate they want to ramp up production but virtually no customer have taken delivery yet.

Surprised the SDV8 is basically the same performance as the SDV6 given the hike in power; I wonder if that 6.9 figure should actually be 5.9 or else the SDV6 figure is a tad optimistic.

I welcome the connected app and the tracker function, avoid the need to hack around with the car's wiring to fit an after market device. As for the rest, it's software isn't it, a range of options which may be available on software upgrade. Sounds like these were intended for Day One but didn't make it in time. Mark

Historically they haven't updated software from earlier editions, for the features. That's not to say they wouldn't

There was an allegiance upgrade on the FFRR once for a similar issue, something later cars had earlier cars didn't that's fundamental.

Look at the 12 sat nav and the features not on that but on the 13MY Mike

Well the V8 is hardly selling itself on those figures.......0-62 6.9 secs

Although it is for 0-62 as opposed to 60 ... so u can trim a couple of points off for that.....

... The FFRR V8 does 0-60 in 6.5 (allegedly)and is surely 50 kilos heavier !!!

So I reckon 6.4 should be about correct ..... but at that speed does an extra 2mph represent .5 of a second off ?? Whistle 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

Official 0-60 and 0-62 figures for the RRS SDV6

RRS SDV6 0-60mph .... 6.8secs ...... 0-62mph 7.2secs

So the V8 0-62 of 6.9 secs is at least .4 of a sec off in 0-60... so 6.5secs... but with all that torque probably 6.3secs
which follows with the FF 4.4 V8 0-60 being 6.5

That sounds a little more appealing now !! Very Happy 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's
