United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Another thing I discovered is that the new RRS has a plug in recovery point just like every ordinary car has now. And there is only one in the boot with the spare wheel. Not sure how useful such an arrangement is for off roading but then the RRS seems to be more about the cool image of off roading than the actual process of doing it, A bit like the Tonka toy styling of the proposed Defender trying to be a cool vehicle - the coolness of the Defender comes from 30 years of off road ability not some lifestyle styling driven by WI focus groups. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

The fold flat option for seats could be for an additional 2 seats? A car at Goodwood Festival of speed had this option ticked and they did fold completely flat. I'm not sure what impact that option would have on the spare wheel though, but they definitely fold flat as I kept pressing the buttons! 07 TDV6 HSE in Stornoway Grey, 20" alloys |08 XF SV8 on order.

The owner manual on Topix shows only the backrests folding.
Given then base slides, guess it makes it impossible to lift too.

Mmmm....okay, for $20,000 less money than a new Sport SDV6 I can get a 2012 SDV8 Luxury Vogue with 15,000km or less on it...and a lot more load space. A tough decision, the Sport is so much more advanced. But the Vogue, given massive depreciation, is so much better value, and decreasing depreciation. Dunno what to do. Greg Milner

Took a picture today at the RRS ride and Drive event, great day BTW
Just the backrest fold and as you can see there is some angle, def not flat.

See the thread on Scratching an itch -- what a "old" FFRR said about the new sport. Might influence you Laughing

Mmmm...thanks for that. Not having driven the new RRS - and there won't be any to test drive here for some months - I'm still leaning towards the FFRR TDV8. Drove a one-year-old FFRR the other day, the V8 is very impressive, particularly with all that torque for towing. And the one I drove was a Luxury version, purchased new last October, so it had all the goodies LR threw at it to sell the last remaining examples of the 'old' model before the new FFRR arrive in January this year.

Maybe buy that, and look at a two year old RRS oiler V8 in two or three years. Anyway, there's no rush. Just took a deposit on my 2010 RRS 3.0 so plenty of time to consider options. Greg Milner

that has got to be the cr4piest setup ever! there has been no thought gone into it at all! obviously the numpty that designed that hasnt taken a fridge freezer to the tip, or slept in it after an arguement with the wife Laughing

penny pinching in the extreme, the wifes Mini folds flatter than that

Andorra 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Fuji White

That is ..... Pathetic... lose so much space.... I use very inch of mine every week.... and that angle is going to be a pain in
the Censored
Makes loading and stacking up to the hilt so much more difficult and stuff is bound to get broken toppling over from the angle.... BAD BAD RR.....
Enough to make me want to look at buying another car......
Fortunately for RR it will be a FF ....
So after my test drive today ... I will be crawling over a FF....
Seriously not impressed with that loadspace... 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

Remarkably, the FF is worse. I test drove one and it was amazed how "unflat" it was -- Worse than my current X5. And that really annoys me
(I hadn't realised that the old RRS had the fold up squabs until I placed the order for my new RRS and they had a 13MY in there.)

It appears to be a compromise. Either lower the seat base and raise the hinges a tad to give a flat floor or keep the rear seat cushions at a comfortable height for the occupants. It doesn't bother me as I won't be lugging big loads in the back.

It's a shame. One of the big advantages of the current RRS is the fact that you can load a ton of stuff into the back with the flat-folding seats, as we've done on our wide-ranging outback trips - fridge-freezers, lugs, the works. Having a completely flat floor makes a huge difference. I think LR may have recorded a major fail with this one. Surely it couldn't have been impossible to work out a way to make the seatbacks fold flat?
