The fold flat option for seats could be for an additional 2 seats? A car at Goodwood Festival of speed had this option ticked and they did fold completely flat. I'm not sure what impact that option would have on the spare wheel though, but they definitely fold flat as I kept pressing the buttons! 07 TDV6 HSE in Stornoway Grey, 20" alloys |08 XF SV8 on order. |

The owner manual on Topix shows only the backrests folding.

Mmmm....okay, for $20,000 less money than a new Sport SDV6 I can get a 2012 SDV8 Luxury Vogue with 15,000km or less on it...and a lot more load space. A tough decision, the Sport is so much more advanced. But the Vogue, given massive depreciation, is so much better value, and decreasing depreciation. Dunno what to do. Greg Milner

See the thread on Scratching an itch -- what a "old" FFRR said about the new sport. Might influence you ![]() |

Mmmm...thanks for that. Not having driven the new RRS - and there won't be any to test drive here for some months - I'm still leaning towards the FFRR TDV8. Drove a one-year-old FFRR the other day, the V8 is very impressive, particularly with all that torque for towing. And the one I drove was a Luxury version, purchased new last October, so it had all the goodies LR threw at it to sell the last remaining examples of the 'old' model before the new FFRR arrive in January this year.

Remarkably, the FF is worse. I test drove one and it was amazed how "unflat" it was -- Worse than my current X5. And that really annoys me (I hadn't realised that the old RRS had the fold up squabs until I placed the order for my new RRS and they had a 13MY in there.) |

It appears to be a compromise. Either lower the seat base and raise the hinges a tad to give a flat floor or keep the rear seat cushions at a comfortable height for the occupants. It doesn't bother me as I won't be lugging big loads in the back. |

It's a shame. One of the big advantages of the current RRS is the fact that you can load a ton of stuff into the back with the flat-folding seats, as we've done on our wide-ranging outback trips - fridge-freezers, lugs, the works. Having a completely flat floor makes a huge difference. I think LR may have recorded a major fail with this one. Surely it couldn't have been impossible to work out a way to make the seatbacks fold flat?
