I think it is either a fluosine dye to highlight any damage to the conjunctiva or more likely Atropine which makes your pupils enlarge. The atropine will prevent your eyes from focussing properly for a short time, hence making driving difficult.

After I'd had my laser surgery done it felt like I had a piece of grit in my eye for a couple of days. They did give me some strong painkillers at the time, but I didn't bother with them (I'm from 'up North').

In my experience it has been well worth the money I paid & the small amount of discomfort suffered for the results gained. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.
