Alternative to the new RRS.........

Well I have made my decision with regards to my next vehicle.

I have cancelled my order for a new RRS as I don't like the high pricing and low specs offered.

So after a lot of research I will be going for a MY14 Discovery 4, which I will collect this coming September.

So much more car for the money, and the HSE has everything on it AS STANDARD that it expect to find on a Land Rover product.

Any thoughts gentlemen?

Jim

Makes sense to me and indeed is that thought that has gone through my mind - a D4 if / when the RRS goes. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes, it seems the sensible choice to me.

I spec'd up a SDV6 HSE and to get what I have on my MY12 RRS all I had to add as extra's were privacy glass, a TV module and grand black lacquer trim.

On top of the above I added the remote control diesel heater, extended roof bars and tow pack.

The price offered via Drive The Deal came in at £49,600............

A HUGE difference in price when compared to the new RRS Shocked

Jim

I think a fair few people have decided the new RRS is way OTT on price structure TBH Evil or Very Mad

It is a car that now seems to be trying to play with the Porka and some other SUV's on the world stage and it's pricing model just seems to say , sorry UK market who gives a damn IMO. 2014 5.0SC AB

Gone 5.0 SC

I one thing that I would miss on the D4 is the radar cruise control. I use it a lot on motorways in my RRS. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I reckon the Disco has become a better motor for everyday use and considering what you get the cost is not bad value for money.

Only thing I've found to be a pain is the step in the roof and the height access limits in car parks especially in the underground ones on London.

Well - I have to say that I am SO pleased that I decided to replace my 2010 Sport with a 2013 HSE Black Edition.

A good spec at a very good (and significantly discounted) price!

I have to confess that I was slightly worried that I might feel a little disappointed that I hadn't waited a bit longer for the new model but quite frankly there is no way I could have justified the price of a new model Sport, and I don't expect big discounts will be available .....yet!!

I am well satisfied with my new motor!!!

Maybe its resale value in 3-4 years time won't be too bad at all..........!!!!

What will be interesting is how people feel about the new RRS once they've driven it. I'm not as keen on the looks as some but it might well be a fabulous vehicle to drive and live with. It's just too expensive for what you get (or don't get as the case might be).

What I found interesting when driving the old RRS at the recent Luton Hoo event was that the seats felt a lot tighter than the ones in my older old RRS. If the new RRS has similar seats then that would be enough for me to dislike it. The new FFRR, on the other hand, felt very comfortable to sit in. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Are you sure the seat bolsters wern't pumped right up RRSTDV8? Ive found if mine are pumped right up after several miles my sides start to ache, so i have to reduce them till i'm comfy.

I think the pricing is a bit too high, but still can be, in a way, justified by the new technology - the alumni body. However, the looks... cannot be justified in any way IMHO.

Discovery does look nice, never driven one however, so cannot comment if it is a good choice. Vadim A.
