New member question on miles to tank TDV6

Hi all,

looking at a RRS 2.7 TDV6 2006 to replace my Suzuki grand vitara 2.0 petrol.

i have one question that cant seem to answered by other people.

how many miles do you get in the RRS 2.7 TDV6? based on 70mph open road?

i get 300 miles out of my petrol grand vitara. 55ltr tank & about £70 to fill from empty.

thanks in advance

Hi Stewart, welcome

Most RRS owners don't seem to worry about running costs Rolling with laughter , however happy to share my experience of mpg. Overall get about 25mpg. Mostly do town/short run driving and this is 22-24 mpg. Took mine to the Swiss alps last ski season and got 31 mpg on the autoroutes dong about 80mph most of the way

StuRRS,

thanks for the post.

im not actually bothered about the costs. cant be when running a petrol grand vitara.

im just interested to know how many miles i will get out of a tank on the RRS.

my grand vitara would give me 24.8mpg on open road at 70mph & thats it.

when i do a trip from Aberdeen to Glasgow i use a full tank, no more & no less.

cheers

Cheers, sounds like it will be a little better on the miles. the GV takes £70 to fill & lasts 300 miles max.

the main reason im changing is due to needing something better for towing the horsebox.

the grand vitara returns 9mpg with the horses.

its just not got the power. perfect offroad though.

What's the GV's towing capacity? I'd be amazed if it was remotely legal towing a horsebox with two horses in it.

The RRS, like the Disco and FFRR, is an excellent towing machine. Our horse box has a MGW of 2.5tonnes and the RRS pulls it without issue. Thumbs Up I assume the 2.7 would find steep hills a bit more challenging but then that's one reason for having the low range box - they're almost unstoppable in low range! Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Grand vitara has a 1850kg towing limit.

Box is 767kg + horse at 600kg so lots to play with.

issue with the GV is that you feel the weight & being a manual 2.0l petrol with permanent 4 wheel drive it just drinks the petrol.

RRS with its 3500Kg limit & being diesel & automatic will cure all my issues

cheers

Gary,

which RRS do you have? i was happy at the 420 miles per tank but if you are getting 550-600 even better.

2.7 TDV6, but bear in mind I'm sat on the M way 90% of my trips, it equates to just over 30 MPG but during the winter I was down to around 27MPG. I had a week off a few weeks ago and just pottering about was down to 25?
