2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Alaska White
struggling to start

Hi we have a 2005 2.7 tdv6 and since we have had this cold weather she is struggling to start from cold. It will crank for approx 15secs then start. After that all is fine. Battery has lots of life etc.

Any ideas?

Cheers Gareth

I asked my independent about this yesterday? It's in on the 17th of April to get the belts done anyway! Thing is I left it at the airport for two weeks and it turned over straight away on my return? It's just struggled the last 2 mornings! His initial response was glow plugs, so we'll see what happens, as usual it will get what it needs!! How much are you looking at for a set of glow plugs fitted?? it's starting to look expensive with belts etc??? Big Cry Here - Range Rover Sport MY05 HSE (Changes coming)
Here - Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo MY12 (60+ mpg)

Gone - Long list of unsuitable cars for me a wife and two kids including Impreza's and VXR's

Glow plugs are £60 or so + VAT, plus a couple of hours labour, if they come out.

If they snap, then it is a head-off job...

Try letting it go through its glow plug cycle twice before starting. Ie after glow plug light on dash goes out, switch ignition off then switch it back on, when glow plug light goes out again, try starting, it might start up quicker that way. Wink

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry for not replying earlier. Defo glow plugs I think, im not even going to attempt to remove them after all the reading i have done on the likelyness of them snapping.

Anyway it got down to minus 3-4 here so each morning i just let the glow plus cycle a couple of times. Started straight away so im guessing one or two of them are knackered. Shocked
