Wondering at 50 plus mph

Hi all sport owners, I have an issue with my car when driving along the road any slight change in canvor results in the car going all over the place, I have had the 4 wheel alignment reset to factory settings , this did improve it slightly.
But on my way up the M6 unless I was in the middle or fast lane car was all over the place.
Any advise or help please.

who did the alignment, and did you check that the vehicle height was correct befor the alignment? if the height was wrong when alignment was done, if the height was wrong then it could be wrong. Also could be lower arm bushes, the large hydro one is usually the culprit as it has a lot of movement when worn.

The near side lane up the M6 probably had groves in it caused by HGV's all running in the same tracks, very common on a lot of motorways especially on uphill sections. Thumbs Up

^^^^ I'd be tempted to agree with Ady's opinion above.

If you're on 20inch and/or low profiles these will make it feel worse.

I'd keep running it for a little while longer and see if its on all road types.

You might want to jack up each corner and spin the wheel to cCheck none of them are running out of true! - its possible to balance a bent wheel so even if you've had them balanced and aligned they can still be out.

Good Morning Guys,
well it seems to be getting worse, along the A143 and any surface that's not even.
its now got to the stage that i am getting uncomfortable driving it, i am getting it looked at at the weekend.
Car is 4 years Old and i have only had the car since end of Jan 2013, all four tires were new and seem to be wearing evenly.

Will let you guys know the outcome.. Thanks God for Warranties RR Sport TDV6

Does the suspension clonk, or knock at all?

Could be worn/soft suspension bushes, but if it is not as bad in the 2nd and 3rd lanes, I would be tempted to say it is the grooves worn in the road from the HGV's.

Tyre pressures can make a huge difference to the way a car drives, as well as the make of tyre. I have had issues in the past with budget tyres...

That said, it may be something suspension related, or possibly a wheel bearing on its way out

Further developments

Hi , Have been told i need all the bushes replaced , as this is causing the wondering and the two front tyres are now needing replacement after just over 3000 miles, so much for getting a newer Range Rover .

has any other readers had this problem , i was told by an independent garage this is a common problem with RRS over 4 years of age ????

a happy outcome

Hi Guys , just a quick up date and god do i feel silly Rolling with laughter

After all the worry and me thinking i had been sold a dud car needing thousands of work , i had the Car fully checked over at an independent LR Garage and all the 4 wheel linement was OK and the Tracking was perfect, as a last resort he checked my Tyre pressures, 46 in the rear and 40 to 44 in the front, Needless to say there lies the issue, once tyres set at correct settings and i test drove for a 20 mile trip its like a different car all together.

Lesson Learned is when you buy a car from whats believed as a reputable dealership , and after a 140 point safety inspection , check the tyres.

I am now sending a legal letter to them as Tyre pressures were on the check list to see if i can get the funds for the two tyres it has destroyed as a result of over inflation.
I know people are going to say i could have checked them , but when you spend over 20K on a car you don't think there is likely to be over inflation to all 4 corners .

Yep - within the first day or so. update the cars specs (with the other cars we have) and check the fluids etc.

I check all the cars fluids/pressures regularly - its a good habit to get into Mike

I've not checked a tyre pressure or fluid level on mine since I got it 2 years ago! I bet i'm not in the minority as well.
