Black Ice Warning

Be very careful out there today Shocked Rain has started to fall on frozen surfaces and is very icey just about everywhere, many roads and motorways are littered with accidents. Just because we might have 4x4's we are not exempt from having an accident. Other drivers make mistakes too. So just be careful. Have a safe journey.

Wise words, Ady- Just come back from the school run and it's treacherous in north Leeds.

Saw a 3 series wrapped round a tree on the A61, and Q5 on its side (!!!) having skidded off the school car park access road, over a kerb and down some banking !!!!

It's sheet black ice, but the GGS setting did the businesss Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Ive done lots of off roading in the defender but none in the sport or an auto for that matter ,what is the best setting for say long icy hill decent at slow speed or driving in snow .
I know it will be in the manual somewhere but its always good to here from peoples exsperiences. zx12r

For a long icy descent, I'd have thought Grass/Snow mode (first off road setting), low range 1st or 2nd gear, HDC on (it should come on automatically with the G/S off road mode) 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for that ,there is a really nasty hill on the way home that gets alot of traffic stop starting so lots of slidding cars Shocked wonder if the landrover driving exsperience day is worth doing to learn all the sports setting zx12r

Note: Low range 3rd is roughly equivalent to high range 1st. So you can see how slow low range 1st is. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
