If I was buying a car less than 3 years old I'd go for a LR dealer simply because you can get it sorted up front under the LR warranty.

If you can get one with LR Approved warranty then it's worth getting. It does mean that you have to have the warranty work done by a LR garage but you don't have to pay anything up front as you do with some 3rd party warranties. It's also unlimited claim value unlike many other warranties.

OK thanks - Im getting a 6 month LR warranty with the deal and then an extended 6 month warranty from WD after that apparantly. So I assume that with a LR warranty I need to keep it serviced etc by the dealer? Im looking at the place in Thatcham near newbury as a possible to use. Anyone used it? |

Newbury 4x4? I think my colleague tooks his Freelander there, and they diagnosed a differential fault which turned out to be warranty work which they couldn't do, so sent him to the LR dealer who sorted it. No charge from either party I believe. 2016 VW Golf GTD DSG 2007 Exige S British GT SE Gone : 2011 3.0TDV6 HSE, Stornoway Grey, Ivory, Piano Black Trim, Paddleshift, Privacy Glass, Side Steps, Mud Flaps, Heated Steering Wheel, Timed Climate & Remote Park Heating |

Odd combination of warranties there. Why isn't the LR warranty for 12 months? Is it just a remaining period on an existing warranty? If so, it might be worth asking for an LR warranty rather than going 3rd party. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Agree. I would have thought a 12 months LR warranty would be standard from e dealer. Might be worth a call before you hand over your hard earned. For a piece of mind I would go to the LR dealer. Even if I have to pay more. I always choose the option which I am most comfortable with, if any doubts and you have a choice to pay more it get the proper deal or pay a bit less with 90% probability that you are getting a proper deal, go for the 100%. Even if you mess it up you know that a dealer will always sort it out. (or at least other dealership will) Vadim A. |

If you are looking at Newbury (Newbury 4x4 or Lancasters?) then could you go further to Pangbourne - Rovertune.

That be another MRC customer then. Having had RS audis since 2001 and Quattros before that and currently know them well. As from experience, use stealer for basic servicing or warrentee becomes an issue. I recently had diff fitted but they forced my arm saying service was due imminently so really should have it done for good will to kick in. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Yep thats them Im a big supporter of the specialist who knows the car so much more better than some spotty grease monkey who's just there learning his trade and doesnt really understand a car in detail. Im just not sure it applies quite so much for this type of car as they are not as rare but thanks for the input all v useful. I have whats left of a 6 month LR warranty which he said he will top up to 12 months with a WD warranty for me this week... Ill wait and see what comes from that as Ive heard horror stories from WD in the Audi world so would prefer the LR one if possible.. Picked the car up on Friday and I have to say am v pleased with the car condidtion, upgrades and the general service Ive had from the dealer in question. If it all works out with the warranty and a couple of snags this week Il happily give them a testimonial as they specialise in bespoke RRS's. |
