HDC FAULT/ TRACTION / SUSPENSION HELPPPPPPPPP

Hi

I've had a number of random errors shoot up today, HDC Transmission error, Traction error, Parking sensors stopped working, Battery drainage, suspension raises at times.

I have tried charging my battery for 12 hours yet still the same problem.

Has anyone else had this problem this has started out the blue!

I've got the car booked in to go to LR on Monday Confused

Anyone else had these issues?

Hi Guys

Never had thought that a new battery can fix ALLLLL the electrical faults!!!

Just dont understand how a low powered battery can cause so many electrical problems.

I really hope that this is the case when it goes into LR as its under warranty as I've come across alsorts of horror stories on the net and stuff.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks Smile

A new battery won't be covered by the warranty (I'd be amazed if it is) but a new LR battery isn't that expensive.

A new alternator should be covered by the warranty though. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Only an aftermarket one and then likely only with proof of purchase (and probably a load of other restrictions on claims) 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The problem seems to be that the RRS uses a lot of sensors and several ECUs. These are connected by a CANBUS and it seems, from the symptoms anyway, that an error in one place can cause a cascade error through several systems. Anything which is voltage sensitive will be susceptible to an issue with the battery or charging system, for example. Quite a few error codes are generated by "signal voltage too high" and "signal voltage too low"

If you have a series of interconnected systems each of which might rely on data from other systems then an error in one can cause several others to also report errors even where they aren't actually seeing a real error in their own system. Quite why there isn't an error trapping system is beyond me. Or maybe the multiple errors are done on purpose and meant to force the user to go to a garage ASAP. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The land rover ones come with warranty - 3yrs on the original, at least 12 months on the replacement.

The batteries i buy now have 3 year warranties and ive had 2 replacements on one of them just by walking in.

Samson batteries we used to get had lifetime warranties.

The Lucas batteries i bought from their outlet had a 3yr warranty - but i never needed to return that as i sold the car Mike

Thanks for this information its very useful.

I purchased a used RS from LR in Swansea and they have given me a 6 months warranty.

I have clearly made the business manager aware that these faults have come up and need to be rectified, I have also made him aware that I think it may well be the battery.

He has stated not to worry and that LR will collect the vehicle and have a look at the issues for me on Monday

Are they obliged to charge me for replacing the battery or will they ask for my permission before replacing anything?

Thanks

Any chargable work they should ask your permission over first - unless you gave it when handing the vehicle over (which is dodgy if added to part of the form) Mike
