Yes there is a battery in the remote and it does need to be changed...well on the new ones that dont have a key Mike

They charge using an inductance loop... Wirelessly when in the ignition, the battery is a small panasonic nicad that fails after a period of time and can be changed by breaking the key open and desoldering the old battery and replacing with a new one.

It means the 3rd button has been programed to open the boot RRS gone

not uncommon on the older cars RRS gone

Seems a fairly common problem with the door locks. See this thread and my post for a detailed link for how to do it.

All my doors unlock. The problem is that when it stands overnight, sometimes it is hard to get it to open in the morning.

If the third button operates the boot and the first button doesnt unlock then the battery is probably ok and the issue is a worn button or door mechanism sticking..
