Euro tunnel

Hi guys,

This is my first help post, but what a great site. Very informative.

We are going away for the Christmas / New year period this year and our journey includes going via the euro tunnel. Ours is a 2006 SE 2.7d.

Has anybody taken their RRS through the tunnel?

My specific query is if you have and you booked online did you book as a Car/car based van or other vehicle type?

The reason I'm asking is because previously when travelling abroad on a ferry there was a height restriction of 1.85m but can't seem to find any info on the euro tunnel website.

My thoughts are to book as a car and when boarding the train, lock it in access mode?

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

For what its worth I always book mine in as a 'high vehicle'. The carriage obviously has much more headroom and in my view much more pleasant and less claustrophobic!!!

Hi Stefan. If you have a tracker don't forget to let them know as it will set off system as vehicle moving without ignition on.

I doubt I have a tracker, there's no paperwork for any tracking system when I bought the car.

Just over 4 weeks of ownership and I'm loving it. Only yesterday did I discover it had Bluetooth for my phone to work hands free!!

As good as tracker is, unless it is active it won't detect movement under water. Have been through many times with mine and never yet triggered a phone alert. Only time it did was when car was on back of breakdown wagon.
With the car on access setting there is more than enough clearance although a French traffic controller once did put us in van carriage. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
