Number of faults & Warranty wont honour ANY of them ! &l

You know you get the sneaky feeling when the person on the other end of the line breathes through his teeth and gives you the garbage "im afriad thats wear and tear and not covered..." Censored .

Just to give you a quick background, I have a 2006 (56 reg) RRS HSE TDV6 which has covered 60k miles. When purchased privatley it came with a comprehensive PLAN A HARTWELL warranty which is LR approved and underwritten by carplan (same peeps who underwrite all LR warranties).

4 months down the line, the car developed the following faults as I was experiencing knocking sounds so I took it into my local LR dealers who diagnosed the following and asked CarPlan to approve who refused to cover all of them :-

* Front Diff oil leak, seal needs replacing. (ok fair enough, external oil leaks are not covered)
* Front drop link needs replacing (excessive play)
* Front bushes need replacing (worn)
* Front Suspension Arms needs replacing (worn and excessive play)

I have scanned this forum and have noticed its pot luck where some people have had the warranty replace bushes/arms etc and some people get refused down the "wear n tear" route depending on dealer etc.

Here is the link to the warranty which I have :-

Would love to hear your thoughts and any avdvice.

I think you've confirmed your own question; each item says "worn" rather than failure so you can see why the warranty company will try to slide out of it.

You'll need to argue that the 'wear' is uncharacteristically high and premature so that it could be termed a failure inside their design life (mtbf). The fact that the dealer has submitted a claim indicates they are on your side in believing the parts have not lasted as long as would normally be expected.

You should go back and argue with them. There is a slim chance that you might have a claim against LR as their components could be argued as being demonstrably not "fit for purpose"(see all the evidence on the forum) on the basis that ball joints, suspension arms and suspension bushes are not a 'serviceable items' (i.e there is not repair procedure) and they are not listed by LR for replacement in any of the annual or mileage schedules and thus the inference is that these parts are intended to last the life of the car.

The tricky part about any extended warranty is that few mechanical parts actually break unless there is no maintenance and then, of course, they refuse a claim because the servce schedule has not be kept uptodate so you either ignore any warning noises and wait for a failure (which is a bit unwise and probably unsafe) ot you get a repair done which leaves you with the bill.

Electrical and electronic systems fail without warning so a warranty will probably cover these surprises - but I wouldn't bank on it.

it says "Vehicles up to Five years" so I'm surprised it's still covered if yours is a 2006 RRS HSE TDV6 Autobiography

It was at the point when the warranty was taken out by the previous owner, at which was point it was around 3 years old and much less than 40k miles. Wink

Leaking front diff and bushes are known faults so I would jump up and down about those, bushes are wear and tear although ball joints are known issues which land rover won't stand over. Not much help but I got new diff from LR at small contribution from me due to previous leak causing failure. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
