RR Sport Factory Build Delivery Time Updates ..Or not ??

Hi All

Great Forum , some very informative posts and knowledgeable posters.

I ordered a factory build RR Sport in Mid August Very Happy with my local dealer and cant seem to have a sensible conversation regarding the process for delivery . Previously when buying German cars a build date and approximate delivery date is communicated to the customer quite soon after the point of order . My dealer claims that all the orders go in a pool and until production is allocated the dealer has no knowledge about delivery time .

Two months seems to be a long wait just find out when they might like to screw it together ???

Is my dealer making it all up or is this normal ?

Simon

Sounds like your dealer needs to try a bit harder.
I can understand for people ordering cars well in advance eg when a new model changes etc, but they should be able to pinpoint for you a least a 'rough guess' of timings before they take your deposit. Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Need to get the beating stick out. I was told delivery times were about 3-4 months from order depending if factory was on left or right hand drive cars. Once you place your order and hand over a deposit, they should give you a build date and approx delivery date. My guess if ordered recently will be early January. Only reason builds go in the pot is if dealer is playing roulette on specs and doesn't want to commit and pay for a slot. Like you, when ordering German cars I was given a website to follow build. Last car came weeks early. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!

Ditto.

A dealer should be able to find out an approximate build date. By two months it should be more or less close to the build date. Sounds like your dealer is being lazy. This should ring the bells and if i was you I'd be reluctant to even consider their after-sales services. Name and shame the Censored !!! Vadim A.

Thanks for all the replies.

When I placed the order in August I specified I required a delivery date no later than early December , they have told me on several occasions that it is quite achievable but have so far be unable to confirm that it is actually scheduled with the factory .I have my suspicions that at some point some 'issue' will crop up outside their control which will shunt it into next year.

RRSboy you are very perceptive....... Sad

Any other advice ?

Stratstones are as close to fraudsters as you can get.

Unlike that guy trashing Kahn I hope they get hold of me and ask me to justify the claim. The publicity will be superb.

While we're at it they frequently ask their service department to find non-existent faults/problems to bump up monthly revenue, if sales are particularly slow.

Also sounds like they may be out of allocation and are waiting until they are given the next batch and only then will they order the vehicle. Shocked

Consider giving them an ultimatum. Confirm the delivery date or deposit back.

Good luck whatever you decide.

I guess your using Stratstone on the Stratford road in Shirley Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

After all the problems I've had with them ... Boardering on incompetence (they sent me to Scotland with a defective brake system) I have lists! I will never buy another car from them...ever (the car also went to other stratstone in the group so not just 1 dealer)

And yes they can get the initial window, followed by the week and narrow it right down...they are also notified on delivery date.

In edition remember they are 5miles from the factory! Mike

On order my dealer gave an approximate date which firmed up once allocated into the manufacturers pipeline

I ordered for a March delivery at the beginning of December, within a week the dealer emailed me the approximate date of 28 February.

Then in the first week in January he emailed me a screen dump with the confirmed details that included factory start and end dates and delivery (see picture).

Sounds like your dealer is playing a game.

P.S based on that we considered booking a factory visit whilst my car was there, unfortunately work got in the way. However it worked out ok in the end as I went in to the dealer around the 17th Feb and my car was coming off the transporter! Thanks for the replies .

So the plot thickens .....

Having parted with a deposit that I have no wish to jeopardise , any bright ideas how best to get this on track .

Ultimately as long as it comes on time I will be happy , I suspect from some of the comments here that I may be taking my servicing elsewhere, ,but will it appear on time ?

it's frankly ridiculous. Cancel the order. Your deposit isn't in jeopardy because, as PER THE DEALER'S OWN LIE, it hasn't entered a production slot yet.

If you made December a condition of your order you can demand your deposit back.

However you then wont get a car by December. Why not ask JLR to confirm.
