It could be the microphone, the bluetooth module or even the software to be honest.

In my last one (2008) everyone complained how bad it was.......not so bad when volume turned down a bit (try about 16).....in the new one (2011) much better and no complaints |

RRSnorway, its probably the mic cable that runs from the back of the stereo unit up the side pillar to the mic in the top lighht unit. You can just chop some new cable in and feed it through to the mic. easier than trying to find exactly where the break is. to test it take the mic out and then just wire directly (pins 2 and 4 rings a bell) at the back of the radio.

I have a similar issue on my 06MY. Apparently SWMBO says the quality goes bad when I raise my voice and that it is much better when you just talk softly (Like my people I talk loudly on hands free as I think it has to overcome road noise etc but I think the microphone is pretty sensitive).
