Hands free is terrible

Hey guys, how does everyone find the hands free working working? Mine apparently sounds like I'm under water or have terrible signal but if I call direct from the phone then it's fine.

I just synced by searching the Bluetooth on my iPhone and connecting - anyone else have any similar issues? RRS 3.8 TDV8 Stornoway Grey full colour coding.

It could be the microphone, the bluetooth module or even the software to be honest.

I'm sure one the experts who knows more about this sort of thing will be a long soon Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Hey guys any news on this?

Bit more info - it's an Iphone 4s, it synced fine with he RRS and the phone book was instantly available but everyone moans how bad, muffled and distant it sounds when I call even if I'm talking very loudly.

Anyone had this problem? does the microphone need replacing?

Thanks RRS 3.8 TDV8 Stornoway Grey full colour coding.

In my last one (2008) everyone complained how bad it was.......not so bad when volume turned down a bit (try about 16).....in the new one (2011) much better and no complaints Thumbs Up

^^^ It's your lucky day, I hoovered the car at the weekend and found some money, I will gladly get you started on the way to a MY2011.........so that's 87p and a bit of fluff from me, I'm sure others will be along with just as generous donations Laughing

Seriously though, adjusting the volume should help out a bit, failing that, it could be worth locating the microphone and ensuring its connected properly (sorry i have no idea where it is Embarassed )

Have you tried with another phone, just to rulke out the possibility thats its not the B/T thats faulty on the 4s ? ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Got a strange prob today on my friends disco 3. You can hear the other person but they can't hear you.

Is this a regular problem?

You think its the microphone or the unit? RRS 2006 2.7 HSE

RRSnorway, its probably the mic cable that runs from the back of the stereo unit up the side pillar to the mic in the top lighht unit. You can just chop some new cable in and feed it through to the mic. easier than trying to find exactly where the break is. to test it take the mic out and then just wire directly (pins 2 and 4 rings a bell) at the back of the radio. Thumbs Up

As for the OP, you can buy the D4/RRS2010 BT unit and just swap it out (with some extra pins to power it up from the existing connectors. Much better quality overall than the older BT units.

Id even buy your old RRS module off you. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

That reminds me of the Monty Python Decomposing Composers song! :

'They're decomposing composers..
There's not many of them about,
You can still hear Beethoven,
But Beethoven cannot hear you.'

Rolling with laughter

I have a similar issue on my 06MY. Apparently SWMBO says the quality goes bad when I raise my voice and that it is much better when you just talk softly (Like my people I talk loudly on hands free as I think it has to overcome road noise etc but I think the microphone is pretty sensitive).

Give that a try next time you use it and see how the quality is.... 2011 Autobiography Santorini Black
