United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Arctic Frost
Blown turbo TDV6 HSE?

My 05 TDV6 HSE has been towing recently, it now emits a huge volume (or puff and then plume) of thick black 'smoke' when under heavy acceleration. Driving her fairly conservatively and all appears fine, no smoke and everything's fine, possibly less power but then unless you accelerate you don't feel that.

I suspect a blown turbo...

I need to limp it home from abroad on a fairly long journey, any contrary diagnosis/advice before I set off? 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE in Artic Frost. 20" 2010 HST Alloys, sidesteps, Hawke tips, plus minor bits and bobs along with a remap. Four spike spiders ready for the Alps again now tucked up in their garage boxes...

It could be hose/intercooler issue.

Hole in either of these would give same symptoms.

Had this exact problem and turned out to be a hole in my intercooler.

Now replaced and driving 100% with no smoke under acceleration and a massive lift in power Smile LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

Spoke to the friendlies at James French in Standlake who provide the tlc for my RRS and they think the same (split pipe).

It's a bug**r to get to so I'll leave any self diagnosis until I'm home at the weekend.

It's a major smoke trail when you put your foot down, wouldn't disgrace a tank making smoke to escape!

Thanks for all the advice posts... 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE in Artic Frost. 20" 2010 HST Alloys, sidesteps, Hawke tips, plus minor bits and bobs along with a remap. Four spike spiders ready for the Alps again now tucked up in their garage boxes...
