2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Graham,

the 45 profile tyre on the 20's seams to offer a greater deal of protection than the 35 profile of the 22's.

I've not heard of any major failure with 20's RRS gone

20s are 40 profile...

As an aside, I did bend a 17inch rim on my Swift Sport. That also had reasonably low profile tyres 195/45/17 if I remember correctly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If you hit a big enough hole at speed it will damage any alloy. 2.7 TDV6

We have had to replace quite a few 20" OE and after market alloys over the years, also had to have quite a few straightened and cracks welded.

New alloys can be very expensive.

Lot tend to go with a 45 profile to help damage. Please call us 01737 241370 for the quickest response Smile

Indeed so.

Speed is probably a bigger issue than weight really as the energy involved increases with the square of the speed increase.

I got a phone call from a friend a couple of weeks ago - she'd hit a big hole (300mm x 450mm x 150mm deep I reckon) and in the dark was struggling to sort out changing the wheel (well, she didn't even try, actually!). I had a quick look by torchlight and couldn't see any obvious damage to rim or tyre so I guess the impact had somehow moved the bead and that had given the immediate deflation that she described. This was a Clio at about 30-40mph too! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Now now, play nice!

I spoke to one of your guys earlier about Tyres, but I forgot to ask a couple of questions. Is there any way of telling Genuine Overfinch alloys Vs the Cheaper copies? I see a few sets on eBay, but im scared to buy incase I cant tell if there the copies or not. I dont think for a minute you would want to overlook the used market, as this helps to promote the company ongoing, so is there a way to check?

Im not knocking that the wheels arent worth what they are sold for by Overfinch and Khan, running my own manufacturing company I understand the issues mentioned regading tooling costs, R&D etc, the only issue is it puts it into another league for some people (Which I dont think is completely unintentional, and beneficial). I love the Overfinch Design Olympus Wheel, it just looks like something of Transformers (80's Kid here...) So i want them for my VW Amarok. Youve now all just realised, that spending nearly £5k on wheels for a £20k truck, isnt quite as 'insignificant' a purchase as it would be had I just bought Range Rover for £70k. But hopefully companies like Overfinch and Khan realise that the customers they have today could quite easily have been the aspirational kid who wanted a used set of Wheels as they couldbnt always afford them, but when they're older/more successfull etc, theyll be the one flying the flag for the brand they beleive in.

Cheers I'm constantly appauled at the level of individuality in peoples vehicles, when there are so may options freely available, and that nobody thinks outside the box.

KAHN WHeels manufactured in CHina..........

KAHN is actually using a taiwan/china wheel factory to produce their wheels in case if you guys dont know. How they sell to KAHN china dealers here is by shipping this wheels out first and then "import" them into china to let people have the false impression that these wheels are actually imported wheels from UK. We managed to trace their source to the company doing the wheels for them here in China. The cost is actually a fraction of their listed retail price online.

That may be true but it's not really the point. Most items are made in China these days. The important fact is whether or not they are made to the exacting quality standards required by reputable companies that purchase them and that they comply with any of the regulations in the county they are being sold in. That's where you lose out by buying cheap copies, you don't know if they have had any safety testing or if they meet the standards & laws of your country. Therefore, you can't be sure they are safe to put on your car!

As for your point about them costing a fraction of retail price to manufacture.. Ummm, well No Sh Censored t Sherlock Rolling Eyes That's hardly front page news! Hmmmm, I wonder if Nike Trainers or Sony Music Systems or Apple iPads are any different? I think not. That's just life in a commercial world. Profit isn't a dirty word you know! Up to you......

"There is nothing in this world, that someone could not make worse to enable it to be sold for less, and thus people who orientate themselves solely by price, are worthy victims of this phenomenon.
It is unwise, to pay too much, but it is even worse to pay too little. If you pay too much, you loose a little money, that is all. If you pay too little, you sometimes loose everything, as the purchased item does not fulfill the purpose it was originally purchased for.
The law of economics forbids us to obtain high value for a low price. If you accept the lowest offer, you have to accept the risk that you may have to pay more. Should you accept this risk, then you certainly have enough money topurchase something better to begin with."

EU Rules say large contracts must be based on a tender style system; so the aircraft taking you on holiday was built for the lowest price !!!!

Not strictly true.. Although often the case. Yes there must be a tender process, however, the EU legislation does not preclude other factors than just price being taken into consideration when considering awards of contracts. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
