does your insurance not do the new for old with in the first year?

Me Nick ? No, I'm with Direct Line and although the policy covers most other things, there is no 'return to new' in the first year.

As you say though, some companies do offer that. It's one of the things that the GAP insurance company (Kam on here) asked as they can defer the start of the policy to allow for cases where it is included.  ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

They Offered me 62, don't know where the 43 came from sorry guys, it's not costing me anything to get into a new motor so no questions will be asked

Ah, that seems more reasonable, as you say, as long as you are made whole and get a new one with no outlay, there's no issue.
