Removing keys from tow bar

Hi guys
Can anyone advise please on whether there is a skill or technique in removing the keys from a removed tow bar ie when its not fitted to the car. They come out fine when the bar is fitted and locked in place, but we cant get them out when its not. Any help much appreciated.
Jim

You need to push the small pin on top and the knob pops and rotates, after that it's possible to remove it.

Another tip is that when it is on the car, rotate the knob JUST until the towbar falls out, then the knob springs back to the locked position, you can then turn the key easily. It takes practice, but that's what works for me

Glad I'm not the only one that has this problem with the tow bar.
I thought mine was faulty, a job and a half just to get the key out Laughing

I think it was designed as a safety feature - for the key not to be removed until locked into place. This is why the key was revised to reduce key breakages on the old type whilst stowed.

I guess it also prevents loss of key whilst not in use...

Best regards and thank you all again.
