You dont NEED to remove the body to get a petrol or diesel engine out of the car, its just much, much easier, and quicker...

Here's a quick how-to on a manual diesel D3 - not too many bolts, but plenty to unplug/disconnect. I take Bobby's point on an engine swap not needing the body off, but I'd wager it's a lot easier - OP is likely to have all tools & post lift. |
