Fiat 500 paint problem

Spotted some discolouration of the cream paintwork on our Fiat 500 at the weekend, around the O/S headlight, wing and bonnet. It looks to be yellowing.

The Dealer agrees and has offered to respray the front end. The car is 6 months old and we have had it from new. Ive told them to stick the respray and they have gone away to "consider their position."

Any idea if I can reject the car or what my options are?

Cheers, mates Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

What colour car, Mrs bean has a Bossa Nova White 500 and I have to say for a Fiat the paint is very good Smile
Have you got a picture? Only reason i ask is that I had a similar problem on a BMW 5 series a few years ago. Turned out to be fallout from when the car had been transported, so a clay bar and a deironisor and a chemical clean (Carlack) sorted it. Just a thought Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I doubt you'll be able to reject on the basis of 'just' the paint as they will be allowed a reasonable attempt at rectifying it, ie a respray.
Worth seeing what they come back with though. Maybe they will make it more attractive for you to get into a new one, but I don't see them just swapping it.......this is FIAT after all, I had to virtually walk away from the deal, just to get carpet mats and £20 of fuel Laughing ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I wonder if there are primer problems, or maybe a bad paint batch. Have you looked on www.fiatforum.com/500, funny bunch Laughing , but maybe some others with the same problem that you could use as a case with yours Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

My advice would be to get an expert opinion in writing to present to them.

Thats terrible brads, i would get the paint thickness tested with a micrometer, i would guess that its had a paint repair before delivery, a very bad one at that Shocked

Hi Ady - Great minds !

I ran round it with a paint depth gauge yesterday before I went to the Stealers cos thats exactly what I thought. Unfortunately the thickness is pretty even all over.

The car didnt come like that - oddly its yellowed over the last few months and I only spotted it at the weekend when giving it a good clean. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

^^^ when you say 'even' Bradders, what was the reading, anything above 150 and I'd be questioning it.

I'm sure there will be others on that forum who have had a similar issue. You got me thinking though, I'm going to check Mrs Bean's just to be doubley sure. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
