It must be galling for the dealer as even the "Country" set round here, who are not known for frequently changing their cars and tended in the past to run them into the ground, are flogging off their Touregs, X5's and Cayennes in droves and buying FFRR's, D3's and RRS's. Even the local farmers are moving back to Defenders and D3's from their Isuzu Trooper vans and ancient Subara pick-ups. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

They're a nice car. I was on the verge of buying a 3.0 TDi before I saw the light and bought the RRS Wink
The V10 is impressive and good value at £36K. It is a monster engine with mountains of torque, albeit a little heavy.
The quality of the interior is arguably of a better quality than the RRS, particularly the switchgear. I dislike the cheap looking green LCD displays in the RRS and the radio display is totally unreadable with polarised sunglasses on, whereas the Treg displays are all full colour and much easier on the eye.
However, the much better residuals on the RRS was the deciding factor, apart from looking and driving much better Smile

Like you Paul we looked at the V6 TDi Sport Atlantic - Looks infinitely better with the bigger wheels and subtle body kit.

I've read the V10 TDi is a monster but suspension cannot cope with fore/aft pitching created by the sheer accelerative force.

I do think that it is a good looking car, but loks a bit 'Estate car on stilts' where as RRS is full bore 4x4.

Interior is definitely several notches above RRS in terms of quality. The clarity of the screens is superb, especially the little colour screen between the speedo/Tacho.

Better Sell more eggs Wink from the looks of things.

Having driven both I know which I'm happy with. Not been off road in it yet so cant comment on that side of things.

As my youngest says make it roar dad. Cool Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

How does refinement compare with TDV6? Is it as quiet inside and out at tickover? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I would say better when running at speed, with the windows down no clatter.
At tickover about the same.
When accelerating hard you can hear the air being drawn into the air box and it gives a craking deep roar, I could listen to it all day never heard a supercharged running but from what I hear it is just as addictive. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

The Audi/VW 3.0 TDi is right up there with the very best. In standard form, it is certainly more powerful than teh TDV6, but then it is bigger. Chipping the TDV6 puts it on par with a standard 3.0 TDi.
The 2.5 TDi is literally ½ of the 5.0 V10 and doesn't really stand comparison with the 3.0 TDi or the TDV6. But what the V10 lacks in refinement, it makes up for in serious punch. It is comfortably quicker than an S/C.
I didn't notice any pitching in the V10, but with the air suspension in "Sport" mode, it rides very well and flat, if a little firm.
I couldn't afford or justify the V10 and the 3.0 just wasn't "special" by comparison to the RRS. I'm happy with my decision Wink
