Interesting - here is the technical spec for the V10

ENGINE SIZE:

Engine Type 10 cylinder diesel

Cubic capacity, ltrs/cc 5.0/4921

Max. output, PS/kW 313/230

Max. torque, lbs.ft/Nm 553/750

TOP SPEED, MPH (KM/H):

With automatic gearbox steel spring / air spring 140 (225)

ACCELERATION, SECONDS 0-62 MPH:

With automatic gearbox 7.8
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BUT..........

The RRS Supercharged is quoted as 0-62mph in 7.2 sec

Mmmm...I think the 0-60 time for the V10 is rather conservative. I've seen it below 7 secs in more than one roadtest. They can also be chipped cheaply to give Porsche Cayanne Turbo type acceleration.

I have not been in a supercharged sport but have driven the 4.4 that my boss owns and that is limp compared to my V10. Wink Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Funnily enough I was reading a back issue of EVO with a chipped V10 Toerag.

I think it was pushing out 363bhp and 600lb ft torque.

Incredible performance but was frightening to drive as suspension could not cope with accelerative force.

Also smoked more and was quite a bit thirstier than std. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

As I said, it isn't the most refined of engines. It uses some strange injection technology borrowed from an Epson inkjet printer Confused
In spite of all the cylinders, it still felt rather course to me. Certainly the 3.0 was much smoother.

Martin, don't get me wrong, I'd got for the V8 every time. I've had umpteen V8's of one kind or another and I love 'em.

Slightly off subject, but I was intrigued to see the dirty washing going off in public at Turbochips. They "claim" to have a chip that will give an extra 40bhp for the S/C, but unless they have overcome the torque limiter, it will amount to a big fat "Zero".

Would agree,

Almost all the cars I have owned in the last ten years have been diesel and been chipped, with the exception of the treg V10 and my Isuzu trooper 3.1.
I thought you were talking supercharged though Confused Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.
