Just brought a TDV8 from Land Rover dealer and when I cruise on my private highway in Germany at 80mph, I have to do 82mph to show it cruising on the clocks at 80mph.

The dealer have said that there is 3mph tolerance. Which i'm tempted to say is a fob off.

Anyone heard of it?

Does it have standard alloys/tryes on it.

My 2012 model is out by 3 mph @ 30 mph and 4 mph @ 70 mph you would of thought with todays technology that they would of at least been able to get something as simple as this correct by now

I find on mine that the cruise speed displayed in the lcd panel is different to the speed shown on the analogue speedo. Which is correct? Don't know. Bothered? Not really.

I suppose I could get the hand held sat nav out of SWMBO's car and check the speedo against GPS. Might do so one day but it's not really something to get overly stressed about.

The speed set should be judged by road conditions etc. anyway, not just a "I want to cruise at Xmph". IMHO.

Oh, and with ACC doing its thing, the car is often varying your speed to match the traffic anyway. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

this is not an RRS issue as my previous M3 and 335D were the same. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx
20" HST alloys, Privacy glass, Side steps, Xenon Adaptive Lighting, Adaptive cruise control

Not too stressed chaps, it's just annoying really. But if that's life, then that's life!

it is standard, I asked LR about this back in 2007 and was told that it is to absolve them from liability of you setting it to 60 and the car doing 60+ and you getting done for it.

I know on my MG that there is a speed offset that can be set in the diagnostic menu for calibrating the speedo, cruise control and GPS, there is a simillar entry in the RRS diagnostic menu as well but good luck in getting any dealer to adjust it.

You do know that if you change the wheels/tyres to a size that has a diffrent diameter that you have to recalibrate the speed sensor/GPS?

I find my speedo is about 2mph fast at 60/70mph with standard tyres(275/40 20") but with 255/55 19" then the speedo is spot on  Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

this is an integration issue....could be easily resolved if they wished to..but why bother

the digital display will have less errors depending on what its fed from and will actually display generally whats coming from the sensor or ecu, there may be latency errors in the system, the needle on the speedo however will have errors relating to the way that it works..ie it has gears and stuff and little motors all driving it round to the indicated speed. Dont think its got anything clever from LR re we let you set that so you dont get caught speeding etc etc. if you want to set it accurately use the digital display...as to gps, thats not that accurate either, remember GPS is fairly inaccurate in height so going up and down hills screws up the actual displayed gps speed. Would be interested to know what the ffrr uses on its digital display...the needle and the cruise setting should be exactly the same
