Hi all,

I recently purchased a RRS hst and not having any great knowledge on where to take it for a service i hunted around on the net to get some prices.

I rang my local main dealer for a 4th year service and was quoted £590, they asked if i had a price elsewhere to which i said yes and they knocked it down to £490......but

hunting again on the net i came across a site "maindealerdiscount"

just put in your details and a list of prices come up similar to flight prices depending on which day you choose, the service is exactly the same.

I did phone the particular dealer to confirm that this was correct and they confirmed it and just said you have to book through the site.

The dealer was Stratstone(BURY) and i was very impressed with the service

Oh and the price £199 did see it a bit cheaper a few days before i actually booked it in

anyway had to share this as i love a bargain

Same here, I am in London but the closest LR dealer it can find is in Nottingham

Good idea though and hopefully they will get a few more dealers added to the list.

James....why don't you get Lookers added to the list then we might have a dealer in London  Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

great find, but dealers were 150+ miles away. However you may be able to haggle with another local dealership from the same group saying if they can do it at that price then the local should be able RR Sport TDV8 09 Santorini Black with all the trimmings

Mint just checked the site and the Newcastle dealer participates! Champion! Question....do the dealers charge. Xtra for filters etc on top of the service cost or is that normally included? Java black 2006

Nick, this is who I have bought both my RRS's from and had every bit of work done with

Awesome but frustrating site. Just putting ours in for its 5th service tomorrow (@44k miles) and Wimbledon Land Rover charging £500. Could get it done for £207.50 if I travel 263 miles... or £296 if I travel 103 miles.

So although there is a big discount to be had, reality/practicality unfortunately says it is not going to happen.

I thought servicing was pretty fixed price, but seems this is not the case. On that website it shows the service list price being £450, yet I am paying more (all oil changes at this service?) Surely that is part of the service cost?

Anyway, how is best to haggle with them? I need the ACC sensor aligned (bumper off job) - is this the sort fo thing I can ask them to include in the cost, and one of the rear seat belts is a bit tempramental - not looking to pay less, just get more done for the same £££

At the end of the day, if there's no margin to move they won't, they'll only give you a price they are happy with.

As you need some other work done, maybe get them to give you a price up front and then negotiate that down......In a nice calm way, point out that the seatbelts shouldn't be failing on a car this age, ACC sensor issue, is it a common fault....blah blah.
