Whining/Wheel Vibration when lift off Accelerator Pedal

Members,

I have a 55 Plate 2.7 TD RRS and have a problem when i lift off the accelerator pedal

Its hard to describe but when the accelerator pedal is down, there is no noise and no vibration through the steering wheel

However, when i lift off the accelerator pedal (say to reduce speed but not hitting the brake pedal) i get a slight vibration through the steering wheel and there is a whining/droning noise from the front

Originally i thought it may be a wheel bearing or perhaps something wrong with the brakes

Someone suggested to me perhaps a fault with the Universal Joint?

I dont know anything about the mechanics tbh and have no idea where the universal joint would be if this was the problem.

Any advice/help/suggestions would be more than welcome as i dont want to stick it into the garage to get checked out and them not be able to locate the problem

Many thanks in advance

Barry

are they expensive to fix?

am i okay to keep driving when its like this?

Thanks for the feedback. Turns out it is my diff that's knackered so a new one arrived today from CWS and it gets fitted on Friday Smile

Just keeping my fingers crossed that problem solved once new diff is fitted
